Will GB News soon be old news?

    Andrew Neil has quit apparently.

Just confirmation of the Farageian takeover, which is always what the money wanted.

Well he says he's quite but he is still going to be a talking head on various shows and Farage is having him on his show tonight apparently.

Presumably trying to salvage his reputation as <checks notes> chairman of The Spectator

He'll be back at the BBC at some point.

I give it a fortnight with a little help from Dorries.

Possibly an unpopular opinion this, but I always liked Neil on his BBC Daily Politics slot. Obviously as an ex-Spectator editor his political leanings were clear enough but he was equally rigorous when interviewing politicians from either side of the house, which displayed a certain journalistic integrity. And he was good at it. God knows what he saw in GB News to throw in his lot with them,

Wonder how long it will take Neil Oliver to ask for his old job back on Coast.

Given the BBC's MO at present, they've probably already asked him back.

Neil's worth having in the tent, because no one can accuse them of only employing woke Marxists. And as Tony said, he's a very good interviewer.

Several big names flamboyantly quit the BBC and ended up coming back.

Neil appears to be a much better interviewer when he has a BBC research and production team supporting him.

The absence of anything of the sort was obvious at GB News.

Not sure about him being a good interviewer. It always struck me that he was playing an experienced journalist on tv, but really what he was was a polite right wing extremist there to reassure a lot of his audience that he too could remember ted heath and harold mc Millan.

I also have to say I judged Diane Abbott quite harshly for being involved in that charade of a programme with the "Woke" retired incarnation of Portillo. What the fuck was she thinking

Boris Johnson memorably avoided being interviewed by him during the election.

Johnson has always had far more to fear from the far right. They will crush him If he steps out of line

They've effectively taken over the Tories already, much like the GOP in America, so most are content with the spoils of elected office.

I don't necessarily believe that is guaranteed.

Allowing himself to be mugged off by Johnson like that made him look like the tosser he is tbh
