    Top 10 animated series

Cartoons/stop motion/CGI all count, puppets don't because that's not animation. And nothing originally meant for the cinema. And without picking the Simpsons again (at least not personally):

    Ren & Stimpy
    Tiny Toon Adventures
    Animaniacs
    Rocko's Modern Life
    The Tick
    Monkey Dust
    King Of The Hill
    Futurama
    SpongeBob Squarepants
    Drawn Together

An honourable mention for Liquid Television, which was probably 95% animated but that other 5% is a deal breaker.

    07 Top Cat
08 Journey to the Center (sic) of the Earth

Hmmm.... based on current viewing mostly led by an eight year old.

          Adventure Time
Archer (yeah, 8 year old is not responsible for that one)
          Apple & Onion
          Big City Greens
          The Bare Bears
          Futurama

No place for The Simpsons, for me, because it's just been so shit for so long, even though the first 8 seasons or so are masterpiece after masterpiece. So:

                          - Hey Duggee
                          - Animaniacs
                          - Adventure Time
                          - Futurama
                          - Detroit Metal City
                          - Tonari No Seki Kun
                          - Dangermouse
                          - Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
                          - Sealab 2021
                          - The Pink Panther Show

                            3. Bob's Burgers
                            4. South Park
                            5. Tuca & Bertie

Ren and Stimpy (season 1 - after that John Kricfalusi was dumped and it got rubbish)
                              Avatar - Last Airbender (series)
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (Nicolodeon's recent-ish one)
Dreamworks Dragons: Race for the Edge
                              Dogtanian
                              Futurama
                              Ulysses 31
South Park (first 2 or 4 seasons)
                              Battle of the Planets
                              Teen Titans Go
                              Dreamworks: Tales of Arcadia
                              Simpsons (until season 10-ish)
                              Early period Tom and Jerry
                              Most Loony Toons

Basically, with a few exceptions, animated kids series are much better now than when I was a kid.

My list is very similar to Wouter D's, save for a couple of anime shows. Also, this is as an adult. I've left off stuff that's great as a kid's show, but only for kids.

                                No particular order:

                                The Simpsons
                                Futurama
                                Archer
                                Bojack Horseman
                                Venture Bros
Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
                                Cowboy Bebop
                                Bob's Burgers
                                Adventure Time
                                South Park

I was very tempted to put Batman:TAS in there, but I haven't seen it recently enough to really know for sure whether it would hold up for me, though I suspect it would. Rick & Morty is another borderline entry - it could easily replace half a dozen of these shows on a different day. Come back to me after Season 5.

The DC comics animated shows, especially from the 90s, are the best versions of those stories ever on TV or film.

Grizzy & the Lemmings (this is a relatively new series and it makes me laugh almost every time I watch it)

We have only just got into watching Bob's Burgers. It is by far the closest fictional representation I have seen so far of my own current experience of life with children.

A blot on John Ryan's otherwise excellent ouevre
