    Soundtrack questions

Why don't TV programmes have to credit songs and artists the way films do?

This was occasioned by watching Small Axe and
...wanting to know what a particular song was
....and/or being driven mad by hearing a familiar bassline and not remembering where it's from
...AND being a huge evangelist for Dennis Bovell, Linton Kwesi Johnson and all their works and thinking it borders on the criminal for them not to be credited so that people can go and find it

Is there any law saying credits have to be shown at all? In reruns they're often cut off.

Don't get me started on that!

In general there aren't many credits on TV shows. I think they save longer credits for the last episode of a series in a streaming context.

I have used this site before to find songs: https://www.tunefind.com/shows

And here are the song listings for Small Axe:

We tend to watch shows with the subtitles on (by which I mean when we watch English language shows we have the English language subtitles on) because it makes things easier for my wife to follow (and sometimes me too). In some cases the subtitles themselves will actually tell you what track is playing

Subtitles were useful for me when we watched Kes.
