And thinking of JGs, JG Ballard isn't widely filmed. There's the, Spielberg Empire of the Sun, of course, Cronenberg's Crash, and the recent underwhelming High Rise and that's it, I think.

There was a BBC adaptation of one of his short stories about a middle class professional man who turns his back on society by locking himself in his house a while (10-15 years?) ago. Antony Sher was the lead, so a prestige name. Although Ballard is a very visual descriptive writer, it must be difficult to capture the detached tone and deadpan humour of a lot of his work in an adaptation.
