    Just Mercy

Anyone else seen this? Based on the true story of Walker McMillian, who was sentenced to death on a wrong conviction, and saved from execution by Bryan Stevenson, a Harvard law graduate that founded the Equal Justice Initiative. Film is based on Stevenson's memoir of the same name, with Jamie Foxx as McMillian (or Johnny D, as he's known as) and Michael B. Jordan as Stevenson.
I thought it was an excellent understated film, with many fine performances, not least the two leads, and Rafe Spall who is terrifically evil as the state prosecutor Tommy Chapman. Really moving scene as one of Johnny D's cellmates is led to his execution, and many other fine scenes. It's not overtly awash with the usual fist pounding and grand standing you get in legal dramas, which is nice to see. Glad I caught it, as I suspect it won't be showing in cinemas very soon, but am sad that it has been overlooked during the award season, though believe Foxx was nominated for the SAG awards.
