    Spin offs of spin offs

Have we done this? Where a character or something from a programme that is itself a spin off gets their own series? The spin off of the spin off cannot appear in the first thing, only the initial spin off.

For example, Shaun the Sheep is a spin off of Wallace and Gromit A Close Shave. Timmy Time is a spin off of Shaun the Sheep and Timmy doesn't appear in Wallace and Gromit.

George and Mildred was a direct spin-off from Man About the House wasn't it? Weren't they the landlords of the saucy mixed gender flatmates?

Yup, that's right, though they might have been neighbours rather than the landlords.

Two of the greatest character creations in British sitcoms, IMHO.

I'm guessing this must happen a lot in comic books. In Shakespeare, Richard III is a spin off of Henry VI Part 3, which is a spin off of Henry VI Part 2.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine is a spin off of The Next Generation more obviously than it is a spin off of the Original Series.

Does The Critic count as a proper spin off of The Simpsons? That would count (harking back to The Tracey Ullman Show as progenitor).

MOTDx, which is a spin-off of Match Of The Day Kickabout, which is a spin-off of Match Of The Day 2, which is a spin-off of parent show Match Of The Day.

                    I'll get my coat.

Love American Style gave birth to Happy Days which gave birth to Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley and Blansky's Beauties and Out of The Blue, none of whose characters were in Love American Style. I thought Joanie Loves Chachi didn't count, but apparently the character of Joanie was not originally a Love American Style character.

Wasn't Friends a spin off of something Lisa Kudrow had been in as her twin sister?

No, that was Mad About You. Kudrow just happened to be on both shows. They would occasionally reference each other, which was cute when both were running on the same night.

There was even a plot line that ran through all the shows on the same night. I think it was a blackout that Kramer caused when he jacked someone's cable.

And bring two of the greatest characters might have been down to Yootha Joyce and Brian Murphy rather than the script...

                                  Not bring

There's a "Pigs in Space" / "Veterinarian's Hospital" joke here somewhere, isn't there?

Glenroe was a spin off of Bracken (first appearance of Gabriel Byrne), which itself was a spin off of The Riordans.

If mumpo were around I'm sure we'd know by now if Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures were both direct spinoffs from Doctor Who, or if one led to the other in some way.

Both were spin offs from Doctor Who, as was K-9 and Company in the 70s. There was also a Dalek movie planned without the Doctor involved in the very early 70s.

'Bulman' was a spin-off from 'Strangers', which itself was a spin-off of 'The XYY Man'. All starring Don Henderson as George Bulman.
