The ITN theme tune from 1955-1982.
Also known as Non Stop, composed by John Malcolm. The excerpt used for the news bulletin is actually just the last twenty-five seconds, but the whole thing sounds more like an early seventies sitcom, or some old silent cartoon. It certainly doesn't sound like a News programme, it's far too up-tempo and cheerful, but I just love it.

Who plays the guitar on the original Rockford Files theme tune? It was rerecorded with Larry Carlton for an album Mike Post did a few years later (containing, among others, the Hill Street Blues theme). But I'm not sure that's him playing in '75.

My kid likes to watch a CBeebies thing called "Space Pirates", in which a Chris Morris impersonator dressed as a pirate travels the universe with two small children and a robot parrot, broadcasting kiddy-pop music to no one in particular. It's not that great, but the theme tune is rocking, as these things go.
