    Andrea Dworkin

I had never read her before last week. My first impressions are that she could write powerfully and beautifully but she seems to have a low opinion of women's ability to exercise choices (regarding porn and sex work) and her "Intercourse" seems to have shot her credibility beyond repair. But I don't think she can be dismissed entirely as a crank: she asks difficult questions about misogyny, the complicity of right-wing women and the line where consent falls. She is also still influencing feminism albeit apparently the TERF ones such as Bindel (who is the dumbed down Dworkin perhaps but also a biological essentialist who insists only someone born female can be a woman, a position I don't think Dworkin ever took).
