Paul Foot the "Calcio" feller was on here at one point. Not sure if he ever posted but he "messaged" me about summit Id posted regarding his book. I think his user name was "Calcio" or "Calcioman" or similar.

Gerontophile wrote a book pseudonymously, if I'm not mistaken. As... "Picklez", something like that?

Uli Hesse-Lichtenberger used to post here semi-regularly as, funnily enough, "Book Author"...

          Who translated it into English?

Paul Foot (of Daily Mirror/Private Eye/Socialist Worker etc renown) was his dad. John Foot wrote 'Calcio' (and one on Italian cycling which is on my xmas list)

            Called Pedalare!, I've just confirmed

Ah, bugger. I discovered that one in my travels and forgot it in the update. Done now.

                    Stubbs and Charlie Nicholas.

That explains why he kept breaking off from my Hawksmoor tour to chat up women and swig champagne.

Modesty forbids that I should publicise my book and also the fact that a slice of academia is devoted to studying me, but...

Amazon left me off the list of editors, but if you look at the cover you can see I did in fact slave away at this for a good part of 2008.

Also wrote two editions of this. If any of you ever have difficulty sleeping, take ten to twelve pages and call me in the morning.

You know, for academic books, any press is good press.

You haven't got the right people with you.

I'd Svengali anything you wrote into the top 10.

I know I don't post on here much anymore (kind of a work stipulation), but I didn't realise I'd be forgotten quite so quickly...

                              (for the record)

Had no idea about the books. Great stuff.

Squires has joined the list in that time with his two (soon three) Guardian books. Stubbs has added a bunch to the list as well with Future Days and Mars by 1980.

My sole entry on WOM's list, the collection of essays on french popular music I co-edited (inc my own piece on french hip hop) has now had a paperback edition. before you rush for it as stocking filler, that reduces the price to just under £50...

One by-product is that my royalties have started flowing again- were in single figures for a few years, but shot up to £30-odd this year!

ps neither of these Swiss dudes (pere et fils) are me, in the unlikely event anyone was wondering.

The PhD racket being what it is, there are probably hundreds of studies of theology on the Genevan Academy at the time of the Synod of Dort. And most, if not all, of them have been read by fewer than 10 people.

I've never written anything longer than about 10,000 words. I think anything more than that would drive me around the bend.
