100 Books from Eastern Europe and Central Asia

I've not got through the entire list yet but I've seen enough to know it's decent.

The only misstep is P&V translations but what can the author do about that?

That's a great list to work through.

That list doesn't deserve to be ignored - but it did just make me pine for almost very book on there and a clear stretch to read them. I've only read a handful. Must go back and check it out properly.

I agree with that. The small selection that I've read from that list (Master and Margarita, Bridge Over The Drina, Imperium, Palace of Dreams*) are all magnificent books that I'd recommend to pretty much anyone.

But I will say that the list generally looks like pretty heavy and serious going. I'm not sure I'd want to go through that list without breaking it up with some seriously brainless fluff.

        * Palace of Dreams wouldn't be my first choice of Kadare to read, mind you. I'd have gone with Broken April, General of the Dead Army or The File On H.
